For anybody who might be new to reading news feeds on the World Wide Web, here’s a short report that might help you get started. It’s called Primer on Web Feeds and Feed Readers.
Download the pdf report and start reading your favorite blogs through a feed reader. You can even use most browsers today as your feed reader. See that little orange icon up there in the address bar? Give it a click and subscribe to the PSAR blog today.
Liz — Sorry for being really dense but ….
I logged in to Meta. Then I wrote an entry and clicked save. Where does that show up? I tried every link under Topics and Meta but don’t see it. I’m assuming it would be at the top of the list since it should be the most current one. Is that something you (Sys Admin) have to approve before it is able to be viewed?
I believe I’ve now subscribed. Once my entry shows up on the PSAR website, it also shows up in my RSS feed on the browser. True?
Thanks!!
Hello Bob!
When you write a post there are three buttons at the bottom of the box where you input your text for the post, called ‘save and continue editing’, ‘save’ and ‘publish’. Clicking the first button saves a draft of your work while you continue to work on your post. The save button that you used will save your work, but not publish it. To get your post onto the blog you need to click on ‘publish’ – and yes, it will be at the top of the list because it is the most recent post.
The Sys Admin person has to moderate (approve, delete or label as spam) the comments, but not the posts because the only people leaving posts have been signed in with passwords/usernames. New comments needing moderation are highlighted on the Dashboard when the Sys Admin logs in.
Log in to the blog again and check out the Write/Write Post page. At the top you will see the drafts that you and others have written. Click on the title of your draft and it will appear in the “Post” box. If it’s ready to be posted, click on “Publish” and you’re done!
If you have subscribed, your entry will show up in the RSS feed as soon as the entry is published to the blog. Depending on your choice of feed reader it may only take a few moments to see your entry in the RSS feed. Some feed readers look for new information every 15 minutes or maybe every hour.
